Alton Orlomoski on the History of Trapping
In this country, the earliest metal traps were made by blacksmiths. Later traps were mass-produced in factories, several of which were right here in Connecticut. Alton Orlomoski, past president of the Canterbury Historical Society and always an engaging speaker, traces his personal interest in traps to 1941, when he caught his first skunk. He continued to trap for the next 40 years. He will have examples of a variety of traps on display at the meeting and will give a brief history of their use.
You've heard of rat and mouse and bear traps, but how about a bee trap?
Our meetings are free and open to the public. You do not have to be a member to attend. Bring a friend and stay for refreshments.
