Tom Kelleher Presents a Program on Phrenology
We’re delighted to welcome back the multitalented and always-entertaining Tom Kelleher, historian and long-time curator at Old Sturbridge Village, for a program on "Phrenology, Quackery, or Science of the Mind?" Phrenology taught that different areas of the brain controlled certain mental functions and that mental strengths or weaknesses were reflected in the size and shape of the skull. This had great application in vocational counseling, politics, and even in the selection of a spouse.
Free and open to the public. Bring a friend! Refreshments following the program. |
