The Gibsons, Leigh and EricThe Gibson Brothers [www.gibsonbrothers.com] return to Canterbury on Sunday, October 12th, to perform in an afternoon concert at the intimate and charming Finnish American Heritage Society Hall.

Because of the venue, the number of tickets will be limited. If you've never experienced major performers in a small, personal setting with great acoustics, this is your opportunity.

Bear MinimumOpening the performance will be Bear Minimum at 2:30, followed by the Gibsons' first set at about 3:30. Seating is general admission. The hall doors will open at about 1:00, and the auditorium at about 1:30, once the sound checks are completed.

Tickets are $27 now and $30 at the door (if any are left).

As of 10/9/2008, a limited number of tickets remain for this show.  If you would like to have your name put on a reserve list, please call (860)546-9062 and leave your name and the number of tickets you'd like ASAP.  Reserve tickets will be held until 2PM on October 12th.  After that time, tickets will be sold on a first-come/first-served basis. Unfortunately, due to the small size of the hall, we are not able to offer discounted tickets to seniors or children.

About the Gibsons:

  • Iron & DiamondsTheir latest CD, "Iron & Diamonds," is currently #1 on the Bluegrass Unlimited album charts.
  • Three of the tunes from this disc are ranked in the October 2008 Top 30 on the National Bluegrass Survey (#5 "Cabin Down Below;" #14 "Iron & Diamonds;" #21 "Picker's Blues").
  • They've been touring throughout the country this year, and performed on the Grand Ole Opry in April.
  • The band is one of the 19 "official" showcasing acts at this year's International Bluegrass Music Association's World of Bluegrass event and conference in October.
  • Their Canterbury appearance looks to be their only show in southern New England for the remainder of 2008.

The Gibsons played for the Canterbury Historical Society in 2003 and 2004, and we are delighted to welcome them back. Please plan on joining us for what promises to be a terrific afternoon of bluegrass! The money we clear will directly support the Canterbury Historical Society's programs and projects.
